About Me

Hi, my name is Tyler McIntosh. I’m a PhD Researcher at the Artificial Intelligence and Music CDT at Queen Mary University, working on expressive performance synthesis for music generation systems, in collaboration with DAACI Ltd and UK Research and Innovation.

My research focuses on developing and evaluating methods for generating expressive performances of multi-track music data, and exploring their position and application within the music industry. This work will culminate in a state-of-the-art toolset of performance synthesis agents for automatic music generation systems, which provide a tier-based trade off between technical ability and computational complexity.

Aside from my research, I’m an avid urban gardener, ex-circus performer, and a pianist. I’m currently reading the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett, and my favourite album is Dark Necessities by RHCP.
